bo-ex furniture,
classic furniture always in place
HISTORIE
1951:
Bo-ex furniture emerges as an exportdivision of Bovirke Furniture, a company producing furniture by renown Danish architects like
Finn Juhl and later Preben Fabricius, Jørgen Kastholm, Jørgen Lund and Ole Larsen.
1980:
The bo-ex furniture division is taken over by Gert and Jørgen Auhagen, owners of an upholsterbusiness primarily subcontracting to
Fritz Hansen furniture and KEVI furniture.
1984:
Visiting a coffeemerchant Gert Auhagen sees Scimitar Chair for the first time. He gets the chance to buy five chairs and Scimitar Table
and does so without realising, that bo-ex-architects Fabricius & Kastholm designed the furniture.
1988:
Doing business with upholsterer Ivan Schlechter Gert Auhagen purchases the rights to a chair, which turns out to be the very Scimitar Chair,
he bought back in ’84.
1992:
Bo-ex plans production of Scimitar Chair, but the original tools and moulds have disappeared. The production must be cancelled.
1994:
Gert Auhagen assumes sole ownership of bo-ex furniture.
2000:
The productionplan of bo-ex contains several pieces of furniture, and the complications in recreating Scimitar Chair are overcome.
